Tiny goats. Huge personalities.
If you hear lots of bleating, spot someone balancing on the highest rock or see a little face peering curiously over a fence, you’ve found our pygmy goats.
They’re some of the smallest members of the Flavour First family, but they’re certainly among the biggest characters!
Curious, playful and always ready for an adventure, our goats spend their days climbing, exploring and investigating anything new that appears in their paddock. They’re natural entertainers and have a wonderful knack for making visitors smile.
Our Goat Story
Our pygmy goat adventure began in August 2024 when two half-sisters, Inga and Thora, arrived at Flavour First.
Sharing the same dad but different mums, the girls quickly settled into life on the farm and soon became firm favourites with visitors.
Our little herd continued to grow with the arrival of Gretta and her daughter Nessa, and in July 2026 we welcomed another very special addition when Inga became a mum to little Frida. Watching the next generation grow up on the farm has been a real joy and adds another chapter to our ever-growing Flavour First family.
Each goat has their own personality and favourite places to explore, and no two days with them are ever quite the same.
Why Do Goats Love to Climb?
If you’ve ever watched our goats, you’ll probably have noticed they’re happiest when they’re climbing!
Whether it’s a tree stump, a rock, a log or anything else they can find, pygmy goats are born explorers with fantastic balance and endless curiosity. Climbing helps them exercise, play and satisfy their natural instincts, which is why we’ve created plenty of places for them to scramble and explore.
Don’t worry… they’re much better at it than we are!
What Do They Eat?
Our goats spend much of the day browsing and grazing.
They enjoy nibbling on grass, leaves, hedgerow plants and other vegetation, helping to keep themselves busy throughout the day. Every now and then they also receive a scoop of specially formulated goat feed as a well-earned treat.
They’re not quite so fond of rainy weather though! On wet days you’ll usually find them tucked away in their shelter, waiting patiently for the sunshine to return.
Did You Know?
🐐 A male goat is called a Billy or Buck.
🐐 A female goat is called a Nanny or Doe.
🐐 Baby goats are called Kids.
🐐 Mum goats are pregnant for around five months before giving birth, usually to one or two kids.
🐐 Pygmy goats can live for 10 to 15 years, bringing years of fun and companionship.
