Our Forest

A woodland that’s growing with the farm

Some of the most magical places aren’t built overnight.

Back in 2021, we planted the first trees that would become Flavour First Forest. What started as a vision to improve biodiversity has grown into one of the most peaceful and special places on the farm.

With over 1,500 native trees, this woodland is growing a little more every year, creating new habitats for wildlife, improving the health of our land and giving visitors a place to slow down, wander and reconnect with nature.

Whether you’re enjoying birdsong beneath the branches, spotting butterflies dancing through the trees or simply taking in the changing colours of the seasons, every visit offers something a little different.

As the forest grows, so does the life within it.

Meet the Trees

Every tree here has been carefully chosen because it belongs in our landscape and plays an important role in supporting wildlife, improving biodiversity and helping future generations enjoy this beautiful place.

🌿 Willow

One of the fastest-growing trees on the farm, willow thrives in wetter ground, helping to strengthen the soil while providing valuable shelter for birds and insects.

🌳 Oak

Strong, resilient and full of character, the oak is often described as the king of the woodland. Over its lifetime, a single oak can support hundreds of different species of wildlife.

🤍 Birch

With its beautiful silver bark and delicate leaves, birch is one of the first trees to establish itself. It brings light into the woodland and is often seen as a symbol of new beginnings.

🌱 Alder

Alder loves damp conditions and has a remarkable ability to naturally improve the soil, helping neighbouring plants and trees thrive.

🌲 Scots Pine

Keeping its rich green needles throughout the year, Scots Pine provides welcome shelter during every season and creates a home for many woodland birds.

🌸 Hawthorn

Bursting into blossom each spring before producing berries in autumn, hawthorn is one of the most valuable native trees for pollinators, birds and small mammals.

🍂 Beech

Beech trees create beautiful leafy canopies in summer before turning stunning shades of copper and gold in autumn, making this one of the most spectacular parts of the forest later in the year.

Growing for Tomorrow

Flavour First Forest is much more than a collection of trees. It’s a living project that continues to grow alongside the farm, creating habitats for wildlife, improving soil health, storing carbon and protecting the landscape for generations to come.

Every season paints a different picture. Fresh green leaves in spring, birdsong throughout summer, fiery autumn colours and the quiet beauty of winter all make the forest worth exploring time and time again.

We hope you’ll take your time, listen carefully, breathe deeply and enjoy one of the most peaceful corners of Flavour First.
